We are delighted to announce this event which will be held again at the Julian Slade Theatre, Prior Park College.
This Bath Opera production is set at a time when women are beginning to fight gender inequality in society. It is set in Almaviva Studios in the 1950s (think Pinewood) run by a powerful producer who likes to be known as ‘the Count’. Figaro helped the Count found his company and put him in touch with the Countess who was the greatest star of the time, but his support has never been appreciated. Figaro is now planning to marry Susannah (Katy Garden) an aspiring young actress. Unsurprisingly the Count is trying to thwart the wedding as he has his eye on Susannah who is refusing to return his advances. What ensues is a hilarious and reminiscent of a French farce!
Gates will be open early for you to bring your own picnic and sit on the lawn and enjoy the beautiful views over the City and beyond.
There will be a cash bar with a range of reasonably priced drinks (both alcoholic and non alcoholic). There is plenty of parking on site.
A great opportunity once again to enjoy Opera in Widcombe.
