Lyn Barham and Kate Mills are going to talk about organic gardening. The garden opened in 1990 as a demonstration garden for organic methods. The group took on the tenancy of a section of Lower Common West allotment site where there were 10 (later expanded to 19) unworked plots. After two more years of hard work, planting hedges, digging the plots, creating a pond, planting fruit trees and soft fruit – interspersed with a lot of social activity – an organic demonstration garden was developed.
This talk will be followed by a tour of the garden later on in the year.
