Go Green Widcombe is a local not-for-profit voluntary group aimed at encouraging Widcombe residents to make their homes more energy efficient, to move away from burning fossil fuels in order to reduce carbon emissions, and to increase the use of renewable energy (ideally locally produced). This is in line with Bathnes Council’s objective to lead the whole of Bathnes towards Net Zero by 2030.
GGW is affiliated to the Widcombe Association and works in partnership with Retrofit West, Bath & West Community Energy (BWCE) and Transition Bath to organise public talks on issues of interest, including improving household energy efficiency. We also have good connections with the Council.
GGW's website can help by sign-posting ways for householders to (a) reduce heat losses via doors, floors, roofs, walls and windows and (b) move from gas heating to energy efficient electrical heating.
We also offer use of a thermal imaging camera to help residents identify cold spots and areas of heat loss in their homes, showing where action can be taken to improve energy efficiency. The thermal imaging camera is best used during the colder months of the year (usually October to March).
