NEW TRAFFIC REGULATION ORDER FOR PULTENEY ROAD

A  consultation has been issued by the Council on a draft Traffic Regulation Order (TRO) affecting the A36 Pulteney Road through Widcombe. The plan is to reduce the current 30mph speed limit to 20mph for the section of Pulteney Road from the traffic lights at the end of Rossiter Road, to the roundabout at the bottom of Bathwick Hill, as well as a short section of the adjoining North Parade. The consultation is open until 21 August and residents are encouraged to respond to the consultation.

The reduced limit is recommended by BANES for a number of reasons:

• This would bring this section of road into line with the 20mph limits of the adjoining residential areas of Widcombe, Pulteney Gardens and Archway
• Traffic passing Widcombe (C of E) Junior School (with the Infants’ School, a total of more than 400 pupils) and the Widcombe play area should be travelling at lower speeds
• It should mean a reduction in atmospheric pollution in the area
• It is hoped that this would lead to an improvement in general environmental conditions for residents living along Pulteney Road.

The proposal is supported by Councillors for Bathwick and Widcombe. The link to the consultation is  https://www.bathnes.gov.uk/traffic-order/24-044-pulteney-rd-north-parade.
