Welcome to the Widcombe Association! We’re the largest residents’ association in Bath, representing this lively and thriving community of residents and businesses in the south of the city.
The association was set up in 1981 to campaign for traffic change and developed other roles along the way.
We now work to strengthen a sense of community in Widcombe, organising a busy schedule of events and activities throughout the year.
We support local improvements in road safety and green spaces. We monitor – and sometimes challenge – planning applications and proposals for changes to transport and highways, and we are in regular touch with the council as well as neighbouring groups and associations.
We maintain the planters and verges along Widcombe Parade and put up the Christmas trees and lights in the winter. We also promote environmental sustainability through Go Green Widcombe
The fabulous Widcombe Magazine is published by the WA twice a year – and we deliver free copies to all households in Widcombe.
Everyone involved in this work is a volunteer including the committee members, the gardeners, the magazine’s writers and distributors, the event organisers and the people who run the Art Trail and the Widcombe Christmas Market. More help is always very welcome and there are lots of ways to get involved.
Finally, the WA has no external funding and relies entirely on its membership subscription to fund activities and the publication of the magazine. Joining the WA is a great way to support your local community.
